janet number ones

I bought Janet Jackson's Number Ones album. It is amazing. I can't believe I have it. I might sound like a nerd but I haven't been happier with an album purchase since forever. Not including anything janet anyway. It is such a great collection. It has all of her number 1 songs except for 'so excited'. I have a feeling it wasn't included because of Khia being a weirdo about it and some things she said about Janet, but I dunno. Either way its missed on this album. The album booklet is so cool. No lyrics unfortunately but it has a little note in each songs credits saying what chart (or in 'got till it's gone's case, country) it was number 1 in. This cd is 2 discs of amazingness. There are some things I noticed about it.

The version of 'The Best Things In Life Are Free' on here is a different version than the one I have heard before. The one I remember was like a dance song. This one is more R&B/Pop version. Not complaining though! Most of the songs say if it is a different version but this one does not.

Another song that doesn't say it is a different version is 'Any Time, Any Place' which is on this cd the R Kelly remix. It doesn't even say anything about him in the credits. I love that this version is on the cd instead of the original. Its a very good remix. It was on a remix cd she had but never released in USA. It could have also been on the single but I don't know for sure.

Next, 'Got Till It's Gone' seems like an entirely unique edit for this album. It has an intro different than any I have heard before. I have the single for this song and it didn't have this same intro so who knows.

The one dissappointing thing I noticed about this cd is that 'I Get Lonely' is credited as Janet featuring BLACKstreet, but BLACKstreet is nowhere on this version!! I used to LOVE the Janet and BLACKstreet version and I'm sad they aren't on here. However this IS the urban remix that they are usually singing on, but only Janet's vocals are present including the second verse (BLACKstreet's part). I definately think this was done by mistake by the people who pressed or compiled the cd or something, but the booklet doesn't say anything about BLACKstreet except that they are featured. It doesn't say like, "BLACKstreet appears courtesy of _____". Bummer man.

Next, the booklet doesn't say anything about 'Someone To Call My Lover' sampling anything. Pretty sure it does. I'm only bringing this to attention because every other song's credits says if they do.

I am not sure if 'doesn't Really Matter' is a certain version. It doesn't say, but I can't tell if it is the unreleased video edit or album version. I don't know the differences.

'Call On Me', which might just be my favorite Janet song EVAR, includes the little interlude sound bit from the ending of 'With U' right before the 'Call On Me' track begins on the 2.0.YO album.

On 'Because Of Love' you can hear the wind at the end of the song as it appears on the album version, however the song fades out. I don't know if that is how the single or radio version was too.

Maybe irrelevant, but 'Go Deep' ends the same way it does on the album. Like almost too soon so it sounds like she says "we go dee-".

'Feedback' remains unedited, leaving the word 'nigga' uncensored, while 'Got Till It's Gone' censors the word 'fuck'. Not even the Discipline album has the word 'nigga' left uncensored. However the single version might be different. Also it is (thankfully) the radio edit. It does not have the same intro as it appears on the Discipline cd haha.

'Rhythm Nation' contains the spoken word intro from the album. I forgot what it was called.

The only song I am surprised isn't here is "You Want This" but I geuss it wasn't a number 1. Also quite possibly my next favorite Janet song EVAR, 'I Want You', is not here. :(

ANYWHO this package is fucking beautiful. Its my prize possetion right now. I just want to marry Janets Number Ones. Oh and I forgot to mention that I'm pretty sure all of these songs have been REMASTERED. You can tell on some of the older songs that sound like they were just released this week in 2009. Amazing. Fucking amazing. Go buy it NOW. The one thing I HATE about this release is that IT DOESN'T COME WITH A DVD. COME ON JANET!! DO IT!!!!!

My Mighty Princess

My Mighty Princess is a 2008 south korean film about a college girl who is a master of martial arts and has super human strength. She finds herself being ridiculed by her peers all the time, so she decides to give up on her abilities and try to live a normal life. She is the only child in her family and the only one to carry on the family traditions, so her dad gets mad that she is getting worse and giving up on her training. He then gets her childhood friend who is also gifted with the martial arts abilities to start pushing her back into practice again.
Meanwhile there is an evil martial arts villan guy who wants to kill everyone else and become the top martial artist guy...He brings his war to the girl's father and nearly kills him. He is left in the hospital in critical condition, so she decides to train again and learn her deceased mother's super martial arts skills to get revenge.

Filled with action, drama, great fighting sequences, this movie is most definately a comedy, but has a juicy plot. I found myself laughing a whole lot throughout the movie. Even my sister who isn't as into asian films as I am was laughing at moments! Every charecter is very likeable and the actors are really good. The main girl's actions and expressions are hillarious. The movie kind of ran on the longer side, but that could also be because I was tired when I was watching it. The ending kind of left some things unsolved, especially the love interest between the main girl, her friend from her hockey team, and her hockey team's much older police-woman crush. This story is very entertaining to watch, but none of it has any conclusion in the end. The ending also can hint at a possible sequel, although I heard that this movie was actually finished 2 years prior to it's theatrical release due to delays of some sort. I don't know if that means anything.

This movie is another 5/5 for me. I have a feeling every movie I review will have this rating Haha. At least most of them anyway. This movie is awesome!

Save The Green Planet

Save The Green Planet is kind of a popular title in asian cinema, so there are guaranteed a million reviews already. I am going to do my best to review this movie. I viewed this film via rental from netflix.

Save The Green Planet is about a man who is obsessed with aliens (and insists he isn't crazy), and his girlfriend who loves him so much that she goes along with anything he says. Together they kidnap, torture, and eventually kill men. They do this because he is convinced beyond all else that they are actually aliens from space posing as humans sent to earth with the means to destroy it. His latest kidnapee draws attention from the feds and the hunt is on.

Basically, the alien obsessed murderer kidnaps this big executive business guy who runs scientific experiments of some kind. He is certain that his experiments are what caused his mother to get ill and in a coma for many years. He brings him to his house far up on a mountain where he also has a honey bee farm thing. Under his house he has hidden rooms full of mannequins and this is where he does all his torturing. He ties up the man on a chair and begins interrogating him about being an alien. The executive guy is absolutely dumbfounded and scared as hell. The murderer man then begins to torture him to get him to admit that he is in fact an alien sent to destroy earth.

Meanwhile there are some federal police guys searching for the kidnapped man. There is a rival investigator guy who this other investigator hates and they are both trying to solve the mystery.

Eventually it is revealed that the murderer guy has had many traumatizing events happen in his life and is believed to be the reason why he is so sick. The investigator learns of other people who went missing in the past that he is sure the same murderer guy kidnapped.

Near the end, it drags out kind of with escaping, then again capturing, back and forth over and over. It was still enjoyable though. It had some pretty nasty torture scenes but this movie is also a comedy in a way. Like a really dark comedy.
Then the end gets pretty predictable, but it was nice to see it happen. You also start feeling bad for the murderer and the end credits just make you want to bawl (while laughing hysterically).

Also this movie had sort of a moral/message about why humans are the way they are and how we are destroying ourselves. When I was watching it, I couldn't help but agree.

This was definately a favorite in my list of good korean films, and asian films..
Even though I have yet to write up that list. People should already know what they are getting into when they watch this movie. If you are into shock/horror asian cinema then just go watch it already. There is no excuse.
In my opinion this was a must-see for fans of the genre. Or anybody with a sense of (dark) humor. 5/5
Buy it for only 8 bucks!
